May 9th in Europe, said May 9 in Europe, May 9 celebrations in Europe in 2014
Anniversary of the Schuman Declaration – is a wonderful occasion to celebrate the way they were able to in the European Union to overcome the long-standing differences, to form a common future. On 9 May 1950, Robert Schuman called for Europe to unite, to make war impossible in the continent, spreading peace and prosperity at the global level.
All over the world, whether in Cairo or in Kiev, people are looking to achieve the common values that we have adopted in the European Union: personal rights and freedoms, democracy and governance, and the rule of law, and a decent living.
Show the recent events in Ukraine that we should not take at all these values as is a foregone conclusion. In Europe today, we see that democracy is the continuing march of progress; we share responsibility for the protection and promotion. We will stand by those who claim to have peacefully.
We have established diplomatic of the European Union to ensure that when we speak, our voice will be heard and united; When we participate in the work of our participation make a difference. And our citizens fully aware that in the face of major challenges, such as the soft states, pandemics, energy security, climate change, migration, be more effective together.
In crises around the world, the European Union adopts a comprehensive approach that combines all the tools at our disposal: diplomatic tools, and development, and humanitarian, security, and economic development. This does not allow us to treat the symptoms, but also the reasons that led to the problems we face.
Let’s look at the EU’s response to the Syrian crisis. We, as thanks to the cooperation with the host countries, with Member States were able to secure more than 2.8 billion euros, the largest international contribution, making the EU the largest donor to the crisis. As the European Union acknowledged the economic impact of the crisis on the host countries, has provided Jordan’s more than 246 million euros over the past two years, humanitarian aid and development, to support the refugees and host communities. We will continue with the help of Jordan’s commitment in this regard.
I’ve had the privilege to keep pace with the experience of working closely with a privileged partner of the European Union such as the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Jordan has been awarded partnership “advanced status”, in recognition of being a communicator as president of the European Union in the Middle East. The relations between the EU and Jordan is strong, as was also during the visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II to Brussels in December (December) last year, agreed with the European Union and Jordan – among other things – to start negotiations on a partnership of movement. This would be another step towards the further build on our strong relationship.
This year, also look forward to the launch of negotiations for a free trade zone deep and comprehensive with Jordan, beyond the removal of tariffs to cover all regulatory issues relevant to trade, in order to improve access to markets and investment climate in the Kingdom, and thus act as the economic engine for job growth. As for the political and economic reforms, we will continue to provide support wherever necessary and possible means, to support the vision of His Majesty the King to promote democracy established in the country.
It was a cooperation between the European Union, and financial support, instrumental in the accompanying reforms stemming from the inside. The European Union has provided Jordan 314 million euros during the period 2011-2013, which included 91 million euros in additional funding from the European Union, aims to support good governance, and democratic reforms, and civil society, and promote social justice.
2014 is a year of particular importance for the European Union. Ten years ago, ten new members joined our Union. The expansion in 2004 is a crucial step towards overcoming decades of division on our continent. Since then, three new members joined our society; This is a testimony to the continuity of attraction towards closer ties with the European Union.
This year is also of particular importance for European citizens. The voters will travel during the
